It was our great pleasure to represent all of our Exhibitors at this year’s glittering BDQ State Design Awards ceremony held at HOTA on the Gold Coast.

Jack from SEM Group explained how everything from lighting and air-conditioning, to solar, battery and EV charging have their place in creating a holistic and reliable ecosystem.

In true Polytec style, their fundraiser for the McGrath Foundation during breast cancer awareness week was attended by a full house of designers, boasted four presenters, was a great success and a whole lot of fun.
Jodie from Caroma covered a comprehensive understanding of several critical topics related to water consumption, plumbing fixtures, and sustainability.

In this presentation Codie from Knotwood looked at some of the available options and application areas for Modular Aluminium systems, in both Wood-Grain & performance powder-coated finishes, colour trends, and design benefits.

This event, presented by Stuart from Benjamin Moore was not just a revelation of a single shade but a celebration of innovation, inspiration, and the evolving language of design.

Rachel from Specialty Lighting & Design has a wealth of lighting knowledge to offer those who are either renovating or building their new dream home.

With years of experience, Marie from Marie.G shared her process on how to approach the Realities of Renovating. From forethought to making plans, changing plans, and endless decisions.

We were delighted to have this group of interior design students from Torrens University last week. They learnt oodles from Julie at Polytec, Bobby from Hettich, Elizabeth from Kethy and Ron from Oliveri during some inspirational showroom presentations.

This course presente by Codie from Knotwood focussed on how these products can be used as a beautiful, high performance, durable alternative for real wood.

During this in-person seminar brought to us by Paradise Timbers & Britton Timbers, our expert speakers including Laurens Notenboom, Head of Sales of Accoya and Shaun from Shaun Lockyer Architects delved into the unique properties and benefits of Accoya wood.

On Saturday, Occupational Therapist Liz Ainsworth, with the assistance of Tina from Caroma hosted an assisted living design event. With changes to the NCC 2022, it is critically important that design considerations meet the new code requirements from the outset.

In this session, Gabriel from Queensland Timber Flooring explained that there is a very wide range of timber products, design objectives, timber finishes, and expected usage profiles.

In this course, Dwight from Paradise Timbers outlined the properties of timbers used for design and finishing and provide a general knowledge to allow you to specify which timber to be used and where and most importantly why.

Adam from LimeTree Alfresco discussed all aspects of designing the perfect outdoor entertainment area, and Jodie from Caroma provided insights on the upcoming changes to the NCC regarding the allowable level of lead in plumbing products.

It was lovely to see Marlo from Prestige Carpets who came all the way from Melbourne to host a Design event with members from the IDA and Andersens.

In this masterclass Mark from LimeTree Alfresco will walked attendees through designing their Outdoor Kitchen from plans to completion. With nearly 1000 completed projects in all shapes and sizes, they have established some unique insights into designing your perfect cooking and entertaining centre piece.

Our thanks to Jack from SEM Group for explaining what architects and builders need to be aware of when constructing buildings under the changing NCC to ensure the ease-of-retrofitting this infrastructure later to meet growing demand.

In this truly unique learning experience Jenny from Intrim Mouldings showed how to make interiors spectacular, Alison from Verosol explained Performance window textiles, and Stuart from Benjamin Moore delved into the factors that need to be considered when selecting a paint finish.

In this full day training session with Occupational Therapists, Jodie and Tina from Caroma did a wonderful job covering all bases from NDIS to NCC and everything in between.

The team at James Hardie have nack of succeeding. This is no small part due to their ongoing commitment to engaging with and educating key industry partners through ongoing training sessions such as this one last week.

This seminar by Stuart from Tenaru helped break down the process of preparing and refinishing exterior timber surfaces, and also explained common issues with exterior timber and how to address these issues.

In this session with Rusty from PGH Bricks & Pavers attendees learnt the meaning of the terms Structural Adequacy, Integrity and Insulation and the ways FRL values are determined.

The NCC 2019 and 2022 Section J Energy Efficiency provisions have proved challenging to the commercial building design process. Ed from CSR Bradford worked through the issues and explain how you can still achieve your desired performance.
