Overview

Selecting and specifying the most appropriate Glazed Façade Systems can play a crucial role in the success of your building. Glazed Facades are critical building elements in terms of aesthetics and performance. However, there are many key considerations when selecting materials, including, supply chains, availability and installation methods.

This presentation will deliver outcomes related to the following Competency/s from the National Standard of Competency for Architects 2021:

PROJECT INITIATION AND CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
PC28 Be able to draw on knowledge from building sciences and technology, environmental sciences and behavioural and social sciences as part of preliminary design research and when developing the conceptual design to optimise the performance of the project.
PC33 Be able to investigate, coordinate and integrate sustainable environmental systems – including water, thermal, lighting and acoustics – in response to consultants’ advice.

DETAILED DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION
PC39 Be able to integrate the material selection, structural and construction systems established in the conceptual design into the detailed design and documentation.

Presenter
Harry has over 10 years of experience within the fenestration and facade industry, having represented 2 of Europe’s largest Aluminium System suppliers across business development, builder supply chain partnership and specification roles. Harry has also worked for a façade sub contractor in an estimating and technical position. Throughout his previous roles he has been involved in the delivery of large commercial and residential projects across the UK. With a particular special interest in building thermal performance, Harry continues to educate the industry on energy efficient building systems.
